Rolex SDA Bocconi Regatta and Conference 2016

Definitely the best combination of sailing and party, sport and networking, fun and excitement in the series of MBA regattas I have joined so far (just two by the way *g*). I'm joining but is is truly hard to imagine how an event could be better than what was organized by SBA Bocconi Sailing Club this year.

The event hosted 39 boats divided into 4 classes based in the beautiful marina of Santa Magerita Di Ligure. Our team of active and alumni MBA students from WHU / Kellogg WHU joint division A - the sporty league comprised of 8 teams sailing on similar First 36.7 sport yachts. The four days from 29.09. - 02.10.2016 were packed with lots of events and basically followed the rhythm of a splendid breakfast, the skipper briefing, several rounds of regatta (or just leisure sailing after we didn't qualify for the finals) and evening programs of dinners and parties at the hot spots in town like the beautiful Villa Durazzo or - never seen such thing before - a huge country estate nearby.

We had sort of the perfect team - being ambitious, but not over-determined or risky, joking all day long and just perfectly fitting together. Personally I am also very glad to have finally understood how to host and take down the spinnaker sail - something that went just wrong all the time when we tried during the last regatta. Weather was equally perfect and we had unusual warm and sunny days for this time of year even mixed with one nicely windy day for the second day of racing.

Unfortunately we couldn't finish day two as some of our essential equippment went missing, but let's put it that way: We'll definitely never loose or drop a winch lever again - and if we do, we still have two spares now *g* (the insiders will understand) ...
