Cranfield MBA Regatta 2016

Sailing is a hobby I started with early on the one hand - joining my uncle for several charter sailing weeks during easter vacation at the time I was still going to school - yet also was taking quite a long from pause after I had sort of a "litte crash" during a spontaneous trip with a rented yawl on the Außenalster in good old Hamburg.

But after about 5 years of absence I decided to get over it and take a proper license and started practicing regularly with a sailing school in Hannover. Just coincidentally at the same time the WHU Kellogg Team was searching for additional crew members for the 2016 Cranfield MBA Regatta celebrating its 25th year in the Solent area south of Portsmouth UK / just north of the Ile of Wright between July 6th and 8th, 2016 and I was lucky to jump in.

With our great skipper Nicolas and an experienced crew our team of eight alumni students scored 4th place after 6 races with 14 competing boats (winning the first race despite a 360° penalty, and twice getting in second).

I'm already looking forward to next year, as well as the other venues the others told me about - next up the Bocconi MBA Regatta in Santa Margarita, Italy from September 29th to October 2nd, 2016...

... I almost killed my phone, but luckily it survived the sea water and heavy showers, so a video of the racing should follow soon....
